ABOUT ANSE GROUP
The ANSE group of the Department of Applied Chemistry, CUSAT proudly presents The Best Thesis Award in Analytical Chemistry. The ANalytical SEnsor community, with a strength of around 50 researchers, who accomplished their PDF, Ph.D., and MPhil under the mentoring of Dr. K. Girish Kumar, Senior Professor, Dept. of Applied Chemistry, Cochin University of Science and Technology, constitutes the ANSE group.
The group is still active in the field of research and they hold prominent positions in various academic/research institutions in Kerala and abroad. The large number of awards in the credit of each members of the group and a recent patent in the field of sensors reveals the enthusiasm and dedication of the group towards research.
Dr. K. GIRISH KUMAR
Dean, Faculty of Science, Kannur University and Emeritus Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry, CUSAT has 36 years of teaching experience and research experience in Chemistry. He started his career at Gandhigram Rural institute, Tamil Nadu and later joined the Department of Applied Chemistry at CUSAT as a reader in Analytical Chemistry.He served as the Head of the Department for 6 years and Dean, Faculty of Science for 3 Years. He was Chairman of Board of Studies in Chemistry for 2 terms. He was the Director of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the University for 7 Years, till his retirement. He has produced 33 PhDs in Analytical Chemistry and published over 150 research papers in highly rated International Journals and presented over 250 papers in national/international Conferences.He is the recipient of Acadamy Excellence Award of DRDO, Govt.of India during 2020.He is a Visiting Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat and has Research Collaboration with Polish Academy of Science and also with Queensland University of Technology ,Australia.
Prof. K. Girish Kumar is officially retired as Senior Professor from CUSAT in the year 2023.The main thrust of his research work is the development of Electrochemical and Optical Sensors and the recently granted Patent for Dopamine Sensor, developed by his group is well discussed in Scientific forums. In order to honour the devoted teacher, avid scientist, able administrator, fervent organizer and trusted mentor we are hereby dedicating this endowment in his name.
